Default 2003 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm

  • 2003 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (1/11/2008)
Deep dark purple, nose of blackberry and dark cherry. Opened and poured into a decanter and left it to sit for an hour. At first this wine was very backward and not yielding very much on the palate. Left the rest of the wine in the glass for another hour and when I came back to it this wine had really opened. On the palate there is an overload of blackberry, cherry, a nice touch of vanilla and a killer spicy finish that seems to go on for 45 seconds. I would sit on this for a few more years but if you were gong to open it soon let this wine get several hours of air. Tasted from a 375ml bottle. (91 pts.)
