2006 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

• 2006 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (8/23/2008)
  Opened and poured into a decanter, poured about 1oz. for a taste. This is one of the lighter color Pinots I have had is some time, the nose was out of this world, floral, earthy, dark cherry, with a bit of spice. In the mouth it was a bit tannic but had plenty of promise.
  
  Came back a little over an hour and man is this wine good. Nose is poetry in action, in the mouth there is a firm tannic back bone with dark Cherry, raspberry and strawberry. Medium mouthfeel with a hint of spice on the 35 second finish.
  
  At the two hour mark the nose on this is as pure as any Pinot I have had while on the palate this wine has spice, dark fruit and much more depth then it did an hour ago. The finish lingers for well over a minute. With this being the "bottom" of the Rivers-Marie offering I am very excited to see what they big brothers of this wine will have in store. If you feel the need to drink now a good two+ hour decant is needed, it would be best if you could sit on this wine for the next two to three years.92pts with plenty of upside.
  
  Over the last few days i have had this wine and the 2006 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Russian River Valley. I have scored them both within a few points but I think this wine has much more potential then does the KB, way to go T.R.B. on another great vintage. (92 pts.)
