Default How are wines named?

American Wines are named after the grape that is harvested, while many European wines are named after the region they are from. Sounds interesting right?

I knew that some wines have names depending on the type of grape used but its interesting to know that place of origin is also used to name a wine. Its an intelligent way to spread awareness about the wine and place.
