2001 Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Serego Alighieri Vaio Armaron: After aging and before bottling, this wine saw two months in a cherrywood cask. Deep brick red color. Earthy nose, with a moldy cheese note. Also stewed fruit and you could definately get the cherry cask smell as well. Bright acidity, wonderful structure and balance. Stewed fruit plus earthy finish. This was a treat. A-
